Handy Tips
- A gas burner with controls at the front allows for more room for the burners to be placed on the hob. As a result the burners are separated more which allows extra room for placing utensils.
- An oven with little or no seams internally can help ease with the cleaning of the internal oven. It means that less dirt and grit gets caught in the seams and makes cleaning less intense.
- If you are someone who doesn’t do much cooking with an oven, a basic fan forced oven with a grill with fan function may be all you need rather than spending more on unnecessary functions. This will allow you to cook simple roasts, pizzas and cakes easily without going overboard.
- Look at the FINE PRINT when observing the water and energy ratings on washing machines and dishwashers as not all companies rate them equally. Some brands show lower operating temperatures or leave out a drying cycle which shows a lower energy usage and is misinterpreted to a better energy rating without actually being better.
- A half load feature is handy with a dishwasher when there aren’t many people using the dishwasher. It also saves water and energy as well by only washing the top basket.
- Rangehoods with two motors are usually more powerful and allow greater suction rates than those with only a single motor. Two motors allow heavy duty cooking to be appropriate in a kitchen without the smells remaining till the next day.
